In the beginning: darkness:

mysterious non-being:

neither one nor many.

From that darkness

came a great radiance,

truth-as-one: being

identical with itself.

And also sophia,

the spirit of the two,

of truth-as-dyad, dialectic,

and mother of the ten thousand

things: the indefinite multiple.

Now we know that the monad

doesn't precede the in(de)finite dyad

but that the the latter precedes the former.

By making a count -- counting as one --

we make the form-of-one. By forming

into one, we make the monad.
